Alright so I chose communications as my major last semester. This semester it seems like so many people want me to use my skills. I never realized what kind of potential communications had for me. See how this is beginning to sound conceited?
Well first it started with this one guy wanting me to help promote Engaging Culture Weekend. Basically he wants me on his "team" to help spread the word and get people to attend the weekend. The next day another guy comes up to me and asks if I wanted to help him campaign for a guy running for student body pres. Finally I got a letter in my cpo (college post office) box. The letter wanted me to take a course as a peer instructor. Basically I would have to help plan classes and sort of double team the class. After all these things kind of bombarded me I feel like I don't want any of it. As crazy as it sounds, I feel like I already have enough on my plate. I really don't, but at the same time I kind of like taking it easy. So should I pursue these things and get busy or just enjoy this time?

Men's Retreat
So last weekend, Asbury held a weekend retreat at Camp Paradise Valley on the
TN, KY border. The camp was a really nice facility. The speaker for the weekend was a guy from Mississippi. His name was Matt Friedeman. His messages really spoke to us Asburians.
Too often are we enclosed in the Asbury bubble.
We are surrounded by Christians which helps us to retain our standards and morals, but also limits our faith walk with God. We always have Christianity shoved down our throats and
it makes us almost burned out. By burned out I actually mean tired of it, not necessarily abandoning it. Dr. Friedemans' messages were a change of pace from what we had been hearing. He challenged us to be different, which is hard to do at Asbury. I guess it's tough everywhere because no one wants to be rejected or weird in society. He wanted us to get out of our comfort zones. I have heard this message before, but this time it was so different.
Another great lesson he taught us was the theory of the 3 M's. The first is knowing your
aker.
Once you establish a healthy relationship with Christ and listen to him daily, one can deal with life with someone to help out. Next, you must find your

ission. In other words, where God is drawing you. He explained that some of us there at the retreat would be the very people who would bleed and die in God's name. It was uncomfortable, but in a good way.
Finally, he told us to find a
ate.

"Don't get number two and number three mixed up."
This advice was something everyone, especially at Asbury should hear. So many people come to this college to find a mate like this...
Just kidding
Which is fine, as long as they know what God has in store for them. Imagine what would happen if you thought you found the perfect person and married them. One day God calls you to go somewhere your spouse would not want to go. It would be extremely hard to decide which path to take after that.
All that to say, retreats are good for taking a step back from reality and recharging ideas and values that should be in our everyday lives.

Time to Catch up
I know it seems like forever since my last post. Well it's been almost a month. I haven't had the motivation to write, but now i'm ready.
Today it snowed and I got to drive in it. It was so much fun, except that we had to go slow.
We did go into a church parking lot and do some donuts though, so that was great. Things have been going really good. I continue to grow closer and closer to the friends that I want to get close too. I am not doing so hot in the scholastic side of college. I took a philosophy test today and it probably kicked my butt, but we'll see. Things are beginning to pick up as far as school work goes, but i guess it had to eventually.
The other day a teacher said to the class, "Well we're halfway to spring break." That just struck at how fast things are going now. It's almost mid February now. I'm not gonna lie, this summer is making me a little nervous. It's a new, strange, harder job than I am used to. Camp Greystone has been all i've known for 7 summers now. I know I can learn a lot from this new job, however, so that helps me get myself ready.
I don't have anything else for now, but I will hopefully keep writing a little more frequently and consistently.
